In Her Own Words, Featuring Claire Coder

This month we hear from Claire Coder, Chief Estrogen Officer at Aunt Flow, which ensures everyone has access to menstrual products.  Here are her answers, putting things, “In Her Own Words.”

Hobbies/Interests: Podcasts are my jive. Everything from Hidden Brain to How I Built This to Missing Richard Simmons. I teach cardio dance fitness, which keeps me in shape after eating loads of Veggie Straws.

Who or what inspires you? When I see other entrepreneurs grinding for YEARS to finally see a result, I get an excited butterfly sensation. Both Jeni Britton-Bauer from Jeni’s Ice Creams and Tom Burden of Gryp Mats inspire to flow forward even when times are tough.

What does it mean to be a leader? Honestly, I am still learning. Personally, my working style is hustle and don’t stop. I forget that this is not a natural process for others. I must force myself to understand and work with people’s varying life and communication styles.

Think back to when you were in middle school – what advice would you offer to yourself knowing what you know now? When I was in middle school I was infatuated with “adult activities.” I wanted to grow up so fast. I wanted to swim during adult swim. I wanted to go out late at night and paint the spirit rock. I wanted to buy scratch off lottery tickets. Looking back, I am sad that I didn’t allow myself to be a kid, instead, I was constantly trying to grow up.
