On Wednesday, April 22nd, 1girl hosted our first annual graduation ceremony at the Bosco Center downtown. Delicious dinner was provided by Freedom a La Carte, a Columbus-based nonprofit that employs adult survivors of human trafficking.
The room was packed with nearly 200 guests – from students, to family members, to facilitators, to community supporters – who all support the work of 1girl and cheered our girls on. The audience had an opportunity to hear speeches prepared by a few of our students and facilitators who shared their experiences, lessons learned, and favorite moments with 1girl. Each girl was honored with a certificate, and four facilitators received the first ever 1girl scholarships. Congratulations to Andrea Binz, Meghan Cutcher, Elizabeth Rosin, and Alyse Gray for their outstanding commitment to empowering women and girls in their community.
The 1girl Graduation Event would not have been possible without the help of everyone in the room! We are particularly grateful to our event sponsors: Cardinal Health, Geben Communication, and ViaVero, for their donations and support.
We look forward to celebrating with even more people next year as we continue to grow as an organization and reach more girls.
