We often think that those of an older generation are leaders, but who said a young girl can’t be one, too? Kirsten Chavis is showing that even though she is young, that doesn’t mean she can’t be ambitious or someone who sets the bar of being an amazing leader.
Kirsten is a ten-year-old at Lou Dantzler Preparatory Charter Elementary school, located in Los Angeles, California. She is passionate about helping others and that passion carries over into her work as the President of her school, leading her peers, school, and community by raising environmental awareness, responsibility, and accountability. As if she already didn’t do enough, she is also a Youth Corps member of nonprofit Grades of Green, and serves as a Youth Member on the Board of Foster & Banks Walk in Faith Foundation.
This incredible young girl recently received a Pollination Project Grant that has helped support her GO GREEN project. GO GREEN encourages environmental awareness, responsibility, and accountability in the community. Through games, activities, speakers, and hands-on learning, Kirsten and the Youth Earth Club are able to educate people on concepts like recycling. the reduction of trash, energy and water conservation.
Kirsten’s dream is to encourage and inspire others, and she is doing that and so much more. Kirsten will be helping as a junior advisor and member of the 1girl Los Angeles expansion committee! We are more than excited to have her helping and we cannot wait to see her talents unfold and blossom even more. She is an incredible young woman, and she is showing us that you can live out your passions and pursue your dreams no matter how old you are.
